Shining Star
This month's Shining Star is...
Stefany thanks her parents for their support during her award acceptance speech.
Stefany Gamez is our 2009 Smart Girl Award Winner! Stefany has been a part of Girls Inc. for five years and is a student at Sam Houston High School in Arlington. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Health Occupation Students of America, and League of United Latin American Citizens. She is also involved in photo club, French club, and Upward Bound.
Stefany was part of the winning 2008 Corporate Camp team and won a six-day trip to New York City. She had the opportunity to meet with women executives and entrepreneurs throughout the city and gain a real insight into being a woman in business.
After graduation in 2010, Stefany will be the first in her family to go to college and plans to pursue a career in nursing. Stefany feels that nursing will allow her to work with people in a positive way and help them have a better and healthier tomorrow.
"I believe a woman can do anything she wants, and I know that I can be a success in life and accomplish my dreams and goals. I know that I'm a bold young lady who could eventually lead a nation if I choose to, and Girls Inc. has given me the support and confidence I need to be a strong, smart, and bold woman!"
