Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Girls Incorporated of Tarrant County. Caring community members like you are essential to achieving our goal of helping youth to reach their full potential.

All volunteers are required to be at least 18 years of age, complete a volunteer application, consent to a background check and attend a volunteer orientation prior to beginning service.

Please review our volunteer opportunities below and complete a Volunteer Application. You may return the completed application with a clear copy of your driver's license in person or by mail to Girls Inc. of Tarrant County, 2820 Matlock Road, Arlington, Texas 76015.

Our volunteer opportunities include:

Special Events:

  • Valentine's Dance in February
    • Chaperone the dance for girls and boys in seventh through nine grades.
    • Run the concession stand.
  • National Girls & Women's Sports Day during March
    • Register Participants
    • Run the concession stand.
    • Run the individual sporting events to include keeping score and helping the girls with the event.
  • Sister 2 Sister Summit in May
    • Mentors to help in the breakout groups.
    • Breakfast and Lunch aides.
  • Fall Festival in October
    • Run event booths.
    • Run concession stands.
  • "The Giving Tree" at the Parks at Arlington in November and December
    • Help shoppers check in and out gift tags for underprivileged youth.

Fundraising Events:

  • Serving on a planning committee for the Strong, Smart and Bold "NO LIMITS" Luncheon.
  • Creating, planning, and facilitating a fundraiser/ public awareness event or project, including securing underwriting funds to support it

Business Office:

  • Office assistant to help with answering the phone, filing, word processing, organizing, data entry, spreadsheet management and other special projects.
  • Research assistant to help assist with research projects by locating people and places on the internet and making phone calls.

Girls Inc. Teen Center - Provide services to girls ages 12-18:

  • Outreach assistant who has experience or interest in the social service profession to help recruit new Teen Center youth members and assist in administering pre- and post-tests to youth.
  • Meal maker (group or individual) to cook meals on-site for the Teen Center youth. Ingredients and supplies are provided.
  • Van riders to assist staff van drivers during afternoon or evening van transportation.
  • Special event volunteers to coordinate or participate in fund-raisers or special events.
  • Office assistant to help with filing, word processing, organizing, and other activities.

Educational and Prevention Programs:

English and Spanish speaking facilitators needed for exciting programs.

  • " Program topics include: Substance Abuse Prevention, Pregnancy Prevention, Economic Literacy (financial education) and Media Literacy (investigation and exploration of the media).
